1989/95 BMW M3 Convertible
1989/95 BMW M3 Convertible - Featured in the October 2006 edition of Bimmer magazine. This car started as a 1989 325ic and Frank Fahey Engineering put in a 3.0 liter six cylinder powerplant from a 1995 E36 M3. Here's some of the work that was done on the car:
E30 M3 convertible body panels sourced from Europe and installed by West Coast Specialties paint & body in San Diego and then painted Cinnabar Red.
S50 3.0L six cylinder M3 motor - 240hp and 225 lb-ft torque.
Battery moved to rear trunk (like in E30 M3 convertible). Trunk brake light removed.
Black body moldings sourced from Europe replacing the US-spec chrome.
Euro-spec headlight washer/wipers sourced from eBay.
Interior has black leather bolsters and black suede inserts.
E30 M3 instrument gauges installed but with with after-market white faces.
Significant suspension work performed: Bilstein strut inserts and shocks with custom springs which reduced the ride height by 1.75" compared to stock.
New E30 M3 struts, bearings and five-lug hubs installed, along with M3 brakes.
Fikse 17x8 wheels mounted with 245x30ZR-17 BF Goodrich G-Force KD tires.
Stock 325i rear end replaced with an M3 differential rebuilt with a 3.46:1 ring-and-pinion attached to a Quaife torque-biasing unit.
Short-shift kit installed.
